Fall Wedding -Theme
Fall is a beautiful time to get married. The colors are brilliant. Having an outdoor fall wedding gives you a beautiful nature made setting.
The leaves alone can be your theme. Find silk fall leaves for decorations. Pumpkins can be added if you like. Hint: have a farmer friend? Ask them to plant some pumpkins for you, supply the seeds. Have a green thumb? Grow them yourself. You can also buy a very realistic looking faux pumpkin during Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Use any variation of a pumpkin as your centerpiece. Add a candle flower, leaves, and you have a simple affordable centerpiece.
Packet's of pumpkin or sunflower seeds can be used as favors. See examples of seed packet favors at: weddingpackets.com prices as low as .35 cents a piece.

Wedding Color Choices - Pick Your Colors
Most people get in to planning a wedding and have not even thought of what color choices they should pick for the "theme". Then you ask yourself how many colors should be part of the theme? Most weddings go with 2 or 3 colors and stick to colors that go well together.
Some simple ideas for wedding colors:
What is your favorite color? The grooms? Do they compliment each other?
What is your birthstone? What is the grooms? Do they compliment each other?
Two of the prettiest weddings I have ever been a part of used these ideas and they worked wonderfully!
One of my favorite weddings used basic white, black and red...What? Yes, very elegant. These colors can work any time of the year and any time day or night. Be bold.

Frugal Centerpiece - Champagne Glass Centerpieces
One of the simplest wedding reception centerpieces I can think of is a Champagne Glass filled with water and just the flower floating in it. You can float a single flower or as many as the glass will hold.
There are many variations of this centerpiece. You can use any glass, like a Margarita glass instead, use those. Any fresh flower will do, too. The bigger the flower the prettier it will look.
You don't even need the flowers..float tea light candles in it. Use a few drops of food coloring to color the water. I don't recommend using food coloring with the flowers though..it may stain them.
TIP: Can't afford even this idea? Don't use real glasses. Use the plastic party store champagne glasses and fill it with whatever you have. Heck fill them with drinks for the table and have them in a round circle in the middle..add berries.
Like this:

The drinks are the centerpiece. Fruit punch, champagne, sparkling juice, mixed drinks, anything will work. Use any type of fancy "toohthpick" or skewer... shove a few berries on it, place it over each glass and you are done. Or clip a piece of fruit to the side.

VERY Cheap Centerpieces

These are Pringle can's...yep, I said it.. Pringle Potato Chip can's with a pattern created on printer paper, glued to the can's. Recycling saves! Green and white ribbon is glued and tied to the bottom and top of each printed pattern. The flowers can be any bunch you like. These are silk lily's. They even sell bunches of flowers like these at most $1 Stores. Making the cost of this flower arrangement approximately $2.50
It is placed on a mirror. We were lucky the venue offered these free on each table. The tiny slippers are the favors. They look like glass but are plastic. I found a bag of 12 for $3.99 and they are filled with Skittles. Any small candy will fit in the slippers.

The Cupcake Tree
This cupcake tree was easy to make. You can get the cardboard stands just about anywhere and these days they come in many sizes. The internet, Wal-mart, craft and party stores, all sell them.
This fall themed cupcake tree was for our 10 year wedding anniversary vow renewal. It is a "small" tree. The cupcakes were home-made with alternating yellow and orange sugar flowers on top of each cupcake. A small cake on the top with a silk flower topper. Then fake silk Autumn leaves were thrown around the base with napkins.
We used a bigger one for a graduation party and had a small mishap. If you do not follow the step by step assembly instructions for the bigger trees...like the ones sold at www.cupcaketree.com you too will find yourself catching a leaning tree and falling cupcakes.
Tip: Wal-Mart Bakery will sell you cupcakes in plain white by bulk. Call in advance to find out how much notice they need. You can buy the candy/sugar roses in stores, online (sometimes called gum paste flowers), or if you are crafty make them.

Flower Ideas Sept. 21, 2011

Flowers? Go silk! Do-it yourself and craft stores are wonderful! Have to have fresh? Pick your favorite fresh flower and simply carry that single flower. Who says you have to have a bouquet? It's your wedding.
This example is a single sunflower, some greenery, tissue paper or netting/tulle can be used, and a pretty ribbon to tie it all together. (before wrapping the tissue paper and ribbon around it, it would be wise to tie the sunflower and greenery together, then wrap it.) Any large single flower will do.
Have some growing in your yard? Use those! Just make sure you cut them the day before. Put them in water and stick it in the fridge. NOT the freezer!!! Freezers kill flowers! Seriously, they turn the flowers brown!

TIP: When getting large cakes like this from a grocery store bakery you usually have to pick it up yourself. That means each piece comes in a box and you or a friend will have to take it to and assemble it at the reception.
Make A Fake Wedding Cake
Make a fake cake...for about $30.00 you can have that big cake without the big price.

"Styrofoam Cake Dummies" were used to make this cake. Printed paper was glued to the foam. Ruffled ribbons glued to the tops. Accessories as desired. Topper was silk flowers in styrofoam with silver letters. The venue had the cake stand and let us use it for free.
(The cake shown was for my daughters Sweet 16th Birthday Party but the same idea can be used for a wedding cake.)
At the party the "Fake Cake" was taken away and a pre-cut sheet cake with a cheap design was served.
